Olafur Eliasson - Mirror Installations

Olafur Eliasson is a Danish-Icelandic artist who uses elements occurring naturally in nature - water, air, light - and scientific methods to evidence their behavior, the works aim to engage the viewer in an entire experience of space and the illusion of a supernatural environment.
Olafur's otherworldly light and mirror installation present an impression of floating through space and among celestial bodies. His work is based upon the theory that perceive the world as a constant flux of movement; a field of vibrations. He believes that the world as a field of vibrations signifies the lack of stagnancy, singularity, solid objectification, or fixity.
Mirrors are substantial in Eliasson's work because it often challenges an individual's usual relation to space and acts as a humble reminder of one's minuscule place within the vast universe.
Eliasson quotes Buckminster Fuller and within this quote, the direction of his compositions are announced.
"Universe is not conforming to a three-dimensional perpendicular-parallel frame of reference."
